YACY ist eine neue Art Suchmaschine, bei der man von keinem einzelnem Anbieter mehr abhängig ist.

Das Konzept ist änlich wie bei Tauschb÷rsen: jeder trägt etwas dazu bei, und jeder bekommt dafür etwas zurück.

Nur dass es sich hier um Suchergebnisse handelt, nicht um Musik.



Die hinter dem Verfahren liegende Technik basiert auf einem caching Proxy.

Um Seiten zu indizieren kann man entweder einfach den Proxy benutzen oder man schickt selber einen Crawler los, der dann vollautomatisch Webseiten lädt und indiziert. Der Proxy-Modus indiziert keine personalisierten Seiten.



Wenn nun irgendein anderer Peer im YaCy Netzwerk einer Suche startet, kann er alle Seiten finden, die Sie indiziert haben. Umgekehrt können Sie alle Seiten finden, die bei anderen indiziert wurden.

Dadurch entsteht ein globaler Index.

YaCy is a distributed Web Crawler and Web Search Engine without a central server and no censoring possibility. It's a P2P-based index exchange network based on distributed hash tables. Explicit Web crawls can be done locally or collaboratively, forming a global search and distributed indexing engine for the Web. It also provides a bookmark system, individual Web/servlet page hosting, and a personal file sharing zone. It is easy to install and has its own database engine. * Enhanced Search Functions
o Re-designed search page: this shows now a simplified page without the left navigation column. The column is only shown if the user is logged-in.
o Added Picture-option to search results: this shows only pictures that are on the found page in thumbnail size.
o Added 'prefer' option to search: this will move search results with matching headlines to the top of the search results.
* Enhanced Crawler Options
o Introduced a re-crawl option for crawl starts of already indexed web pages.
o Introduced a auto-dom-filter for special steering of the crawler in case that the crawl start is a link-list and crawls should stay within only the domains of the link-list.
