Some have sent letters to a webiste that acts as a temporary library, before emailing them back to be read at a later date. The programme also follows a group of young adults as they open letters that they wrote to themselves years ago as school leavers.

Writing a letter to myself to be opened in the future sounds too scary to contemplate. No doubt it would contain stern reprimands for still drinking/thinking/going out too much. But if you can't imagine what you'll be doing in five months, let alone five years, writing to your future self could be enlightening. It's like being your own shrink. One letter writer describes it as receiving a letter from a young cousin you're very fond of but haven't seen in a while. This delightful programme allows us to eavesdrop on people's hopes and dreams. All the pathos and humour of life is here. Listen and write.
