Pentrex captures the beautifully restored steam locomotive number 290 as it pulls three different steam excursions throughout southern Georgia and Alabama.
The first outing finds the Pacific type engine running with her white accent stripes and tires painted black, as she would have appeared when in actual service. Hired for the day by a group of well known photographers, the 290 pulls the special train around the Atlanta circle track.

In August, 1992, the 290 fulfilled a long held dream by again running down her former rails to Montgomery, Alabama. The venerable locomotive made the historic trip over The Atlanta & West Point and The Western Railway of Alabama. The event in its entirety is here for you to enjoy.

As part of the New Georgia, the 290 pulls an excursion from Atlanta to Macon on the Savanna and Atlanta line, through the pine forests of central Georgia. From Macon, the 290 gets on the old Georgia Southern and Florida line for the run to Tifton. Passing cotton fields and hamlets, the engine puts on an exciting show as she pulls her train across the rolling hills of southern Georgia.
