Project 64

Project64 is a Nintendo 64 emulator which at first seemed to have popped up out of nowhere. I had some trouble trying it myself as my PC doesn't meet the steep system requirements of Project64. Yet from what I have seen, if you have the right PC, Project64 will probably work better for you than any other Nintendo 64 emulator.

The system requirements of Project64 are high. Don't expect games to run well or at all if your PC doesn't meet these requirements:

* Pentium III 600 Mhz or better
* 128 Mb. RAM or more
* Fast video card with 16 Mb. Video RAM or more
* Windows 95/98/Me
* DirectX 6.0 (latest version of DirectX recommended)

Project64 works best with these video cards:

* TNT, TNT 2, GeForce, GeForce 2, ATI Radeon

Project64 does not work well with these video cards:

* Matrox G200 and G400 (blending errors)
* ATI Rage Pro (misses some 3D functionality)
* 3DFX Voodoo Banshee (has bad DirectX drivers)
* 3DFX Voodoo 1 or 2 (secondary 3D cards are not supported)

NO$GBA

NO$GBA started as a Gameboy Advance debugger but was later released
as a normal emulator(version 1.9). It is the first gameboy advance
emulator to support multiplayer games on the same pc!
Later versions added support for the NintendoDS portable console.

How to use multiplayer

* put the GBA BIOS file in the emulator's folder, and rename it to "gba.rom"
* run No$GBA.exe
* pick a GBA image (no ZIP)
* go to "Options" / "Emulation setup"
* increase the number of "Emulated Gameboys"
* in "Link Gamepaks", set "Gamepaks in all GBA"
* in "Reset/Startup Entrypoint", set "GBA BIOS (Nintendo logo")
* click OK, you should then see 2 GBA screens side by side
* right click on the left window, click on "Link" so that the window comes back to normal.
* then redo the right-click and click "Link" , and here we go, the 2nd gameboy does boot!

Dolphin

Dolphin is the first Gamecube emulator able to run commercial games!
Even at its early stage some games manage to load and run but
not perfectly. Please remember that Dolphin is an experimental
GameCube emulator so many games might not run and for the ones
that do run you will need a strong PC..

Dolphin now also makes progress in emulating Wii games.

* System requirements:
* GFX: Radeon 9500+ series card recommended, but Geforce FX series also work. Expect severe graphics problems with lower cards.
* CPU: The fastest you can find.
* RAM: 256MB or higher strongly recommended.
* Audio: Any Windows/DirectX-compatible soundcard.

(dOLPHIN CAN ALSO EMULATE some Wii games)

iDeaS

iDeaS is an Nintendo DS emulator.
It's compatibility rate is growing with each release while it
already runs a few commercial games.

Visual Boy advance

Since the first version of Visual Boy Advance which lacked some major features (such as an interface), this Gameboy Advance emulator has progressed greatly. I found compatibility to be quite good and many games were playable. Actually I didn't have any problems with every game I tried, though I must admit I didn't test a whole lot of games.
The games ran at full speed (with sound) on my Celeron 900 Mhz., so if you have a similar or faster PC you shouldn't have any problem either. A Pentium III 500 Mhz. is the absolute minimum requirement to play games. The Gameboy Advance is a 32-bit machine so emulating it requires more CPU power.
ZIP Support
Visual Boy Advance has ZIP support. This means you don't need to unzip your ROMs before playing. Just select the ZIP file and Visual Boy Advance will automatically load the ROM from it.
Gameboy Emulation
Visual Boy Advance can just like a real Gameboy Advance also play original Gameboy (Color) games. So there is no need to get a seperate emulator. Because of this the author has stopped development of his "normal" Gameboy emulator Visual Boy.

Snes9x

Snes9x is a great Super Nintendo emulator
for which ports are available for many platforms, unlike ZSNES.
Though Snes9x also has many of the features of ZSNES,
it lacks a bit in compatibility. This doesn't mean it's bad,
but there can only be one the best: ZSNES.

ZSNES

This is simply the best Super Nintendo available.
It's ultra fast and should run at full speed on any
Celeron or faster PC.
It also supports Super Nintendo features which are very hard to emulate
(and which were unavailable just a while ago),
like DSP1 emulation (Mario Kart),
SuperFX emulation (StarFox) and now even C4 emulation
(Megaman X3)! These features make ZSNES the most compatible
Super Nintendo emulator available.
The sound is also great as ZSNES allows some special tricks like sound interpolation and a low pass filter. You can get 44khz Stereo sound with ZSNES, but you must have a fast PC for that.
Ports of ZSNES are also available for DOS and Linux.
