Since the early '80s, I remember this as the best film of mystical Kung Fu. Back then, it really captured my imagination. Seeing it again recently, I was not disappointed. Very well executed special effects and a plethora of distinctive characters make for a highly entertaining martial arts story. The fight choreography is repetitive at times, but this is barely noticeable as another wonderfully conceived combatant enters the fray. The plot moves relentlessly onto its tragic, but satisfying, end.
