The Fantastic Four (1967) was an animated series produced by Hanna-Barbera productions, and debuted the same day as the classic 1967 Spider-Man animated show. This was one of only two animated series produced by Hanna-Barbera that was based on Marvel Comics characters. The program, featuring character designs by Alex Toth and lasted twenty episodes. The Fantastic Four was first created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. This was also one of several shows to be cancelled because of parental concern over TV violence in the 60s.
The Fantastic Four was: Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic), Ben Grimm (The Thing), Reed's wife Sue Richards (Invisible Woman) and Sue's little brother Johnny Storm (Human Torch).
The Fantastic Four gained their super powers after a experimental rocket ship designed by Reed Richards and piloted by Reed's friend, Ben Grimm, was hit by a storm of cosmic rays on its test flight in space. When it crash landed back on earth, the four discovered that they each had gained super powers. Reed could stretch, twist and re-shape his body to in-human proportions, Ben was transformed into a monstrous humanoid with orange, rock-covered skin with incredible strength and durability. Sue was able to turn herself invisible and create forcefeilds. Johnny could cover himself with flames as well as fly. They decide to call themselves the Fantastic Four and use their abilities to protect mankind.
01 - Klaws
A vengeful super-villain captures two of the Fantastic Four inside their lab and tries to get Sue to set a trap for Johnny, who is on vacation, by calling him back to the Baxtor Building.
02 - Menace Of The Mole Men
After the Fantastic Four receive complaints about the side-effects of some of their experiments, Reed decides to take the team's tests to an isolated island. They are soon stranded there when the U-car is stolen and meet the Mole Man.
03 - Diablo
When the Fantastic Four come across an old castle in Transylvania, The Baron Hugo tells them the legend of Diablo, who was sealed in his crypt 100 years ago. The THing is lured, in a trance, to free Diablo who turns him human as a reward.
04 - The Red Ghost
Using a powerful rocket propellant they've discovered, the Fantastic Four head for the moon, but the have competition with a mysterious ship with a man and three trained apes aboard. The mysterious ship passes through a field of cosmic rays which has strange affects on the passengers, enabling them to alter their form into anything and back to their original form again.
05 - Invasion Of The Super Skrulls
The Emperor of an alien planet of Skrulls sends his own super-creature to Earth to conquer the Fantastic Four.
06 - Three Predictions Of Dr. Doom
Dr. Doom makes three dire predictions to the Fantastic Four as he tries to take over the world. With Sue captured by Doom, will all his predictions come true?
07 - The Way It All Began
This episode tells how Reed, Ben, Sue and Johnny gained their super powers and became the Fantastic Four as well as the target of hatred of Victor Von Doom.
08 - Behold A Distant Star
Warlord Morat of the Skrulls decides to impress the Skrull Emperor by capturing the Fantastic Four. Once caught, he robs them of their powers. Can Reed figure out a way to return them all to full strength before it's too late?
09 - Prisoners Of Planet X
Abducted by a U.F.O., the Fantastic Four are taken to Planet X, ruled by the tyrant Kurrgo. Planet X is doomed, and Kurrgo forces Reed to find a way of saving himself and his slaves.
10 - The Mysterious Molecule Man
A man, whose body was altered in a freak accident, starts changing the molecular structure of inanimate objects. The Fantastic Four have to figure out how to stop him and turn him back to his normal form.
11 - Danger In The Depths
The underwater kingdom of Pacifica, ruled by the noble Prince Triton, is under attack from Attuma. Lady Dorma of Pacifica emerges from the sea to ask for the Fantastic Four's help.
12 - Demon Of The Deep
The villainous Professor Gamma is mutated into an amphibian called the Gamma Ray. With Johnny having left the team in anger, the rest of the Fantastic Four have to deal with Gamma Ray, and his enormous sea monster Giganto.
13 - Return Of The Moleman
Earthquakes rock New York, and one by one buildings disappear into the ground, one of them with Sue in it. Realizing that the Mole Man's causing trouble again, the rest of the team journey into the Earth's crust to stop him.
14 - Galactus
The Watcher arrives to hide the Earth hidden from Galactus and his herald, the Silver Surfer. As Reed and Ben deal with Galactus, Sue tries to reason with the Surfer, while Johnny searches for the world's only salvation: the Ultimate Nullifier.
15 - It Started On Yancy Street
Answering a challenge by the Yancy Street Gang to Ben, the Fantastic Four are ambushed by the Red Ghost, who takes them all back to the blue city on the Moon.
16 - The Micro World Of Dr. Doom
One by one the Fantastic Four are shrunk, and end up on a microscopic world whose inhabitants have been enslaved by the nefarious Dr. Doom. Together with the planet's rightful rulers, the Fantastic Four try to stop Doom's dreams of conquest.
17 - Blast Starr, The Living Bomb Burst
Observing a huge battle on a planet in the Negative Zone, Reed accidentally brings the powerful Blast Starr to Earth, who begins to cause carnage on yet another planet.
18 - Rama-Tut
Finding an ancient Egyptian tablet with Ben's face on it, the team uses Dr. Doom's time machine to travel to ancient Egypt and find out what happened. There, they encounter the dictator Rama-Tut, from 3000 A.D.
19 - The Terrible Tribunal
Klaw, the Molecule Man and Blast Starr have the Fantastic Four kidnapped and put on trial for their crimes against evil. After viewing the evidence, Reed is found guilty. Can the rest of the Four help him in time?
20 - The Deadly Director
The Fantastic Four are famous for fifteen minutes when acclaimed director Otto Von Lenz invites them to Hollywood to play themselves in a movie. Unknown to them, this ’director’ is the Impostor, who has kidnapped the real Von Lenz, and taken his place.
