Jarvis Branson Cocker [born September 19th 1963 in Sheffield, England] is an English pop musician, best known for fronting the band Pulp. Jarvis came from a musical family [his father and uncle were musicians]. Fellow Sheffield musician Joe Cocker was a friend of the family and babysat for Jarvis on occasions, though they are not related.
Jarvis is the debut solo album [released in the UK on November 13th 2006] from one of Britain's greatest songwriters of all time, former Pulp frontman Jarvis Cocker. With an all-star cast of backing musicians [including Richard Hawley and Steve Mackey], Cocker has returned with a strong set of songs that will remind fans of his previous work just how much they missed him during his hiatus. Includes the tracks Black Magic and Stormy Weather, together with his forthcoming single Don't Let Him Waste Your Time [due for release on January 8th 2007].
The bonus track Running the World was included as a hidden track on the CD 30 minutes on from the end of Quantum Theory.
