James Morrison was born James Morrison Catchpole in 1984 in Rugby, Warwickshire, England. He states his musical influences to include Al Green, Otis Redding, Cat Stevens and the Kinks. At 13 he began to learn guitar when his uncle showed him how to play a blues riff. He started busking when he lived at Porth near Newquay, in Cornwall. After years of playing other musicians songs, he eventually started to write his own. Polydor Productions signed him and he was the supporting artist for Corinne Bailey Rae on her tour supporting her debut album. Morrison released his first album, 'Undiscovered' on the July 31st 2006, and it topped the UK album charts in its first week of release.
'Songs For You, Truths For Me' is the second album by English singer, songwriter and guitarist James Morrison, released on September 29th 2008. The first single from the album was 'You Make It Real', released on September 22nd 2008, the second single 'Broken Strings' [featuring Canadian pop/R&B singer Nelly Furtado] on December 8th 2008. 'Nothing Ever Hurt Like You' was also released, as a United States exclusive, in September. The album reached No.3 in the UK Albums Chart.
