Fall Out Boy are a Pop Punk band from Wilmette, Illinois [a suburb of Chicago, Illinois] that formed in 2001. The band consists of Patrick Stump [lead vocals, guitar], Pete Wentz [bass, backup vocalist, and primary lyricist], Joe Trohman [lead guitar], and Andy Hurley [drums]. Infinity On High is their fourth studio album. It is the follow up to 2005's From Under the Cork Tree. The title is taken from a letter written by Vincent Van Gogh to his brother Theo in 1888. In the letter, Van Gogh describes his renewed health and the vigour it has instilled in his painting. The line that inspired the title is "Be clearly aware of the stars and infinity on high. Then life seems almost enchanted after all."
In the album's opening week, Infinity On High reached number 1 on the Billboard 200, selling 260,000 copies. This Ain't A Scene, It's An Arms Race peaked at number 2 on the UK Singles Chart on 4th February 2007, making it their most successful song in the UK to date. This was after the single entered the US Hot 100 at number 2 and the US Pop 100 at number 1.
