A NOTE FROM TT:

What is the difference between a video DVD and a DVD-ROM?

You may have noticed that some of our training products are available
as either DVDs or DVD-ROMs; however you may be unclear on what the
actual differences are between the two. When you see a product
referred to as being available on DVD, this means that it's a standard
video disc, very similar to the commercial movie discs that you get
from the video rental store. These discs contain regular broadcast
NTSC video (the North American video standard), which are designed to
play on a standard set-top DVD player for viewing on a television set.
You can always watch our video DVDs with a regular DVD/TV setup, but
if your computer supports video DVD playback, you may also watch our
training on your computer desktop.

DVD-ROMs, on the other hand, are only viewable on a computer. A
DVD-ROM is physically the same type of disc as a video DVD, but does
not contain broadcast video and is not viewable on a standard DVD/TV
setup. Instead, our DVD-ROMs contain a computer program which runs on
Macintosh or Windows systems, enabling you to watch our lessons and
actively participate within each lesson. You must run this program to
view the training. A set-top DVD player cannot run a computer program,
and so our DVD-ROMs won't work in a video DVD player.

The advantage of DVD-ROMs over video DVDs is that our program provides
for a much higher level of interactivity than a video DVD does. This
interactivity enriches your training, as the program remembers lessons
you've already watched and automatically links to our website for
program updates. We can also create better-quality video on a DVD-ROM
than on a DVD intended for television viewing, all of which results in
a better training experience for you.

ATTENTION: TROUBLESHOOTING

Troubleshooting for Total Training for Macromedia Flash 8:

Trouble launching the Training?

Update your product to activate certain features:
To activate some of the features in the Training interface, please
check our website at www.totaltraining.com for product updates, or you
can click the Setup button in the lower right of the interface to
reveal the menu shown in the figure below. From there, click the link
shown to visit our product updates and support web page.

Windows users:
The Launchpad window for the Training should open automatically when
you insert the DVD-ROM. If the Launchpad doesn't start automatically,
double-click on the My Computer icon on your desktop. Then locate your
DVD-ROM drive (it should be labeled TMMFL8_Px) and double-click on its
icon to open the Launchpad. If this still doesn't work, right-click on
the DVD-ROM icon (TMMFL8_Px), displayed in the My Computer window, and
select Open from the popup menu. Then double-click the file TMMFL8
may be called TMMFL8.exe) to start the Launchpad.

Macintosh users:
Under Mac OS X, the Launchpad window will not automatically launch
when you insert the DVD-ROM. You'll need to open the DVD-ROM by
double-clicking its icon on the desktop. Then double-click the "TMMF8
Launchpad Mac" file in the DVD-ROM window.

No video?
If you see the Training window and the interface elements (header,
buttons, etc.), but no video is displayed in the center of the window,
you probably don't have QuickTime installed, or you have an outdated
version. You can download the latest version by clicking the "Get
QuickTime" button on the QuickTime Test window that appears after you
click "Install", or manually download the latest version from Apple's
website using your browser.
The web address is:

Choppy or stuttering audio or video playback?
If you experience stuttering or choppy video or audio when playing the
training, try opening and closing one of the menus. This may correct
the problem.

No QuickTime Registration number needed
If you install or update QuickTime, you may be prompted to enter a
registration number at the end of the installation process.
Registration is needed only for the Pro version of QuickTime, and is
not required to view the Training - you may simply leave the fields
blank and click "Next >" to complete the QuickTime installation. (If
you do have a Pro registration number, you may enter it when prompted,
or it may be entered at a later time via the QuickTime control panel.)
