Dancemixcollection - Blancmange
Welcome to my dancemix-torrent No. 24
This dancemix is in general a kind of greatest-hits-compilation in a special way. Burned in a proper way to an Audio-CD you will have a continous flow of music, without gaps interrupting it. Most of the tracks are not complete in this way, it's faded in and out often after half of the original track. For this, every original track was speeded up or down a little bit at overlapping points or in general for matching the drumbeats. The special technique used to do this prevents the audience from really realizing the speeding.
BLANCMANGE was founded in 1979 by Neil Arthur and Stephen Luscombe, they released in 1980 their first single, but they got real attention because of the song "SAD DAY", first released on the legendary "SOME BIZARRE"-compilation-album together with bands like Depeche Mode and Soft Cell. Blancmange released only 3 studioalbums and they split in 1986, but they jumped into the charts with a bunch of singles during 82-86. BLANCMANGE's style? Difficult to tell and unique. For sure typical 80s use of synthesizers and the very charismatic voice of Neil Arthur. And strange enough, there is a listenable and visible affinity to the music and style of india. The sitar is listenable from time to time and so on. Somehow hard to define. For me, the first track "VISHNU" on this compilation brings this to the point, "normal" listeners shouldn't skip this track, don't worry "better listenable" tracks follow...;-)
Because of the lack of quantity of album-tracks with only 3 released albums, I decided to include some solotracks by Neil Arthur into this mix. It's from his album SUITCASE, released in 1994. For normal listeners, this sounds like modern Blancmange, purists may have a different view. Hope this is ok for you all and I found a good balance. And additionally, I am very sorry for the cutout of "LORRAINE'S MY NURSE" and "JOHN". Wonderful tracks indeed, but it stopped the "flow" of this mix much to much.
In general it was a hard decision to put this Blancmange-mix up here, I did it finally on request. This mix has some small edges, but this time I gave special attention to a good "flow". I think the result is the best I could do with the music of that wonderful band. Formerly there was some critics within the comments (I think it was the PSB-mix?), this would be simply a chain of overlapped songs. If so, then try by yourself to create a thingy like this. Maybe the name "dancemix" gives irritations too. For sure it is no new upmix or new interpretation or instrumentation of old tracks. What I did is best described as a "chained-by-BPM-continous-80-minute-dancetrack based on original tracks". The idea behind? Well first I made it for the club's theme night. The people are really dancing 80 minutes continously and they really like those theme-nights with the music of only one band for 1 1/2 hour... Sharing this here then gives you the chance to get it too and to have all albums of a special band (more or less) on one CD for your car or your next party, for your own theme-night. And I hope to catch with this some new friends of good music. Hope they get interested and trying to get the original records. Sometimes hard to get, believe me...
So with one band it works very well, with another it is a lot of work and the result is not every time the best. Thats it.
Some bands got a namecheck in the comments of the other torrents too, I will try when I have some time. So pls. have a look from time to time here. There is hopefully more to come. And pls. seed this if you like it.

It is very important to follow this short instructions for creating your copy in a way it is satisfying you. For
sure you can listen to the downloaded MP3 on CD or play it directly from harddisc, but this will driving
you eventually nuts because of the gapping and it is not the way it works and I made it for you.
All MP3-files are chained together and encoded with 192 kBit-Bitrate. This should be enough for reconverting to audio-CD
So pls. open a new audio-CD-project within your burning software. Import the MP3-files in the right order. If
your burning software is not able to reconvert MP3 for creating an audio-CD automatically, you have to convert
all the files back to wav-format first and then import the files.
Second really important step is eliminating all the trackgaps by setting it to a value of zero. Pls. consult
the handbook of your burning software if you don't know how to do this. If the total running time of the disc in
your project is a little bit below 80 minutes, then you made it.
Then burn the project in so called DAO-Mode (Disc At Once) to a 80-minute-disc.
Why in this way with MP3?
Because it its the fastest way for me to give you this. All other formats are exotic or just need more space and are wasting more of my limited bandwith. A cue/bin-version would make sense only of I would put up the complete disc uncompressed. I've choosen MP3 because not everybody is owning a highspeed-dataline these days.
Why this not in a lossless format?
Because its quality is ok for this dancemix. If you download this, you have to own the original albums of the band and there you have the lossless version of the tracks. This here is for experimenting and having some fun with the music of a wonderful band.
Hope you enjoy it and you have some fun with it. More dancemixes will follow. Why not give my other mixes a try if not already done? Search here on Mininova for:

If some of the older mixes are not available at the time you want to have it, simply stay connected for a while. I am sure somebody will help you. I will try to seed as much as I can too, weekends preferred and "balanced" on the most wanted, the reason for this is my limited upload bandwith.
If you like what you got, please SHARE IT WITH OTHERS AND DONT LEAVE THIS TORRENT TO EARLY AFTER LEECHING. Creating a mix like this is sometimes not as easy as it looks and I am not able to give all of my torrents a continous seed.
Thanks for reading, and pls. do me a favour: Pls. put some more comments to it. Do you like it?
