This movie is in narrow screen format as that was how it was made onto the DVD disc that we just made a fresh conversion from, (the DVD is very very rare, and VHS copies of this movies also haven't been around for years for the most part!)
There is a comfortable area for viewing the subtitles which are in English by the way, below the picture itself so its not a waste of space so to speak that the movie does not take up the entire screen height, only the full width.

Beau Pere is about a woman coming of age. She looks as though she could easily be of the voting age in most western countries and has the mental maturity to match, certainly. She's presented as somewhat younger for purposes of discussion i would guess. You might recall that former Prime Minister of Canada Pierre Trudeau had a brief liason with a much younger woman as well - as I recall she was eighteen or so at the time as well.

If you like French movies, you should certainly see this one and share it with your friends on-line by helping to seed into your area certainly!

It is interesting that the interplay of personalities is in fact the most crucial element in what makes the movie interesting, not in respect of taboo involving a woman a bit younger than I indicate here, but rather in that the mix between a woman brimming with genuine humanistic warmth and passion seeking to have them nurtured acknowledged respected and shown love and caring for are pitted against what are clearly the tempermental characteristic of a man many would describe as more of a geek perhaps. But then perhaps I am being too harsh in my judgement as i am altogether sensitively French (with polite British schooling too by the way) despite my very much Italian core as a man.

Sensitivity and warmth are not something you assert you have or feign as it were. It is something you express, genuinely, warmly naturally and yes passionately. In which case, you deserve the gal in this picture here, otherwise you will fail to do her justice as she begins to realize at some point despite capriciousness and vacillation that is natural for a woman that is coming into adulthood and beyond in fact.
