Drive SnapShot v1.38
Language:English
OS:Win2000/XP/2003

This makes automation of regular tasks a breeze.

System requirements:

Windows NT 4.0 Service pack 3, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows 2003 Server, Windows PE, Vista
2 MB disk space + space to save the disk images. 8MB RAM if active, 0 MB if not active. You need administrative rights to execute Drive Snapshot

How can I verify that Snapshot did what it claimed - backup all my data

The easiest and fastest way:

Backup a drive. Map the drive as virtual drive. Use WINDIFF or similar file compare tools to compare the two drives; they should be identical.

You will see differences, because WINDIFF will not be able to open the PAGEFILE or registry files on the original drive; but that's not SNAPSHOT's fault. For these files you have to trust us (of course we tested this, using slightly more complicated setup's)

Do I have to shut down all Windows programs (highly recommended)

No. It's probably a good idea to save your open files before starting Snapshot Backup. Otherwise you would eventually get outdated data on your disk. After Snapshot has started you may continue to work normally, the image will reflect the data at start time.

May I install a new VIRUS, while Snapshot is running?

Yes. It won't make you happy, but Snapshot won't care. The created image will not contain any sign of a virus, ready to be restored.

May I FORMAT/FDISK the disk that is currently being Snapshot'ed?

No. It is not possible to run programs that access the disk directly while Snapshot is running.

What File systems does Snapshot support?

SnapShot relies mostly on the operating system to support a drive. All file systems known to Windows(FAT16, FAT32, NTFS) are supported; additionally some LINUX file systems (EXT2,EXT3,Reiser) are 'manually' supported. Other file system are stored completely, ignoring any free space information.

Does Snapshot support enhanced NTFS features like encryption, security, hard and symbolic links, mount points, multiple data streams, extended attributes,quota,...

Yes. Snapshot is sector-oriented. Snapshot will backup all sectors relevant for the file system, and restore them exactly the same way. Snapshot never interprets these data on its own, the interpretation of these data is up to the file system. Snapshot only provides the necessary data. The same is true for the Image Viewer.

Thinstall VS v3.104

Create Portable Apps!

Applications run in a virtual OS or sandbox which protects the local OS from registry and file
system modifications.

Thinstall is an Application Virtualization Platform that enables complex software to be delivered
as self-contained EXE files which can run instantly with zero installation from any data source.
The core of Thinstall VS is the Virtual Operating System, a small light-weight component which
is embedded with each Thinstalled application.

Deploying applications is slow and painful

Businesses require more and more applications operating together seamlessly and over time
these systems have evolved into more complex and more fragile environments. The result is
software deployments are increasingly expensive, support intensive, and time consuming.
IT faces months of wasted time on multi-app regression testing, end-user support, and
downtime caused by undiscovered application conflicts.

Reliable and readily accessible software to date requires endless planning and a great deal
of ongoing support. In fact according to Forrester Research companies spend on average more
than $500/year per desktop managing applications.

Thinstall Virtualization Suite simplifies the application deployment cycle by eliminating
regression testing and solving integration problems. Thinstall ensures conflict free software
deployments.

Solution Overview

Thinstall acts as a thin Virtual Operating System (VOS) that merges a virtual system environment
with the real system environment. The Thinstall Virtual OS consists of the Virtual File system (VFS),
and Virtual Registry (VREG).

Thinstall can transparently stream large applications from a shared network drive with no client
or server software to install as well as run the application off-line on the PC.

The VOS works exclusively in user mode and requires no device drivers or preinstalled clients.
It can run applications in managed and unmanaged Windows environments without requiring
elevated security rights. Thinstall enables implementation of stronger security by allowing
applications previously requiring admin rights to run on locked-down user accounts.

Thinstall protects the local PC against changes to the file system and registry for both custom
developed and commercial office applications with no source code changes enabling true
separation of application and OS.

Thinstall generates a single secure executable file which virtualizes the application and
associated registry and filesystem changes.

Benefits and Savings

Reduce time to deployment Thinstall reduces costs and accelerates IT deployment and business
processes:

* Significantly reduce regression testing costs: Applications can be deployed and run in independent
sandboxes, eliminating the need for expensive and time consuming multi-app regression testing.
* Greatly reduce the cost of maintaining secure locked-down desktops: Isolated application can
run in restricted user accounts without requiring any host modifications.
* Consolidate Terminal Server and MetaFrame servers. Thinstall reduces the need to create
machine silos for specific applications due to conflicts or security.
* Accelerates software development: Enables developers to use the latest runtimes, frameworks,
and libraries instead of being restricted by shared components that are not backwards compatible with
older applications.
* Enhances work-force mobility, business continuity and disaster recovery: Applications can be run offline
directly any external media including USB Flash, CDROM, and unattached laptops.

No infrastructure changes needed

Thinstalled applications can be deployed using any existing software deployment systems including Active Directory and SMS. Thinstall has no client or server components to manage or maintain and Thinstall can transparently stream large applications from any network attached storage devices without server software.

User-mode only secure execution

Microsoft s best practices recommend user mode solutions to reduce the scope and impact of security breaches. Thinstall executes entirely in mode with no kernel-mode code or device drivers. This enables seamless distribution to locked-down desktops with full assurances that local security policies cannot be violated by kernel-mode code.

For mobile users, Thinstall turns managed kiosk PC into a preconfigured workstation with any USB Flash device. For Citrix and MS Terminal Server environments Thinstall ensures system stability and limits security breaches to specific user-mode sandboxes by executing entirely in user mode. Thinstall eliminates the need to grant applications Administrator privileges in cases where they were improperly designed to write to global file system or registry locations.

Fast, lightweight virtualization

Thinstall is an application level solution and does not use emulation, so all processes are executed natively at full speed without the typical 25- 50% speed reduction of other machine virtualization solutions.

The Thinstall VOS occupies ~300K on disk and is embedded with each application so there is no client to manage. Additionally, because Thinstall only virtualizes applications, not an entire new OS, additional Windows licenses are not required and memory impact is minimal.

Streaming without infrastructure changes

Using streaming, Thinstall can launch very large applications from any shared LAN resource in seconds. Thinstall can stream application code and data from a standard Windows fileserver or network share without a client install or specialized servers required, enabling application streaming with no infrastructure changes. Users can launch an application from a local shortcut, network share, URL, or email link. Active Directory can be used to limit access of applications to specific sets of users.

Windows Vista Ready Instant Migration

Thinstall fully supports Windows Vista and makes migration easier by eliminating LUA related errors and compatibility issues.

Isolation eliminates conflicts

Thinstall VS includes new file system and registry isolation capabilities that prevents applications from being affected by other software installed on the same system. Two versions of the same applications can appear to be installed and run from the same directory without conflicts even where virtual and non-virtual versions exist at the same location. Thinstall VS also provides Windows side-by-side DLL isolation capabilities without having to redevelop applications or needing to upgrade to XP/Vista.

Sandboxing prevents modifications

Thinstall redirects all changes intended for the host PC s file system and registry to a private per-user sandbox. Sandboxes can be located on a network share allowing application settings to follow users as they move from machine to machine. Because all changes can be separated from the host OS, broken machines can be replaced like light bulbs with no impact on the user. For mobile users, sandboxes can be stored on local USB flash devices thus preventing damage to the host PC or accidental host storage of sensitive data.

Thinstall unchains developers

Thinstall enables corporate developers to choose from the latest tools and technologies without concern for deployment issues, backwards compatibility of shared components, or desktop integration/regression testing. Thinstall supports .NET, Java, ActiveX, COM, MDAC, ODBC, and allows the latest developer technologies to be deployed to restricted user accounts with zero installation or impact on other applications.

System Requirements

Thinstall supports Windows NT, 2k, XP, w2k3, Vista, Terminal Server, and Citrix MetaFrame with no dependencies or client to install.

Thinstall supports .NET, Java, ActiveX, COM, MDAC, ODBC, and allows the latest developer technologies to be deployed to restricted user accounts with zero installation or impact on other applications.

Key Features

* Instant zero-footprint deployment
* User-mode only, no device drivers
* No Client or Server required
* Fast, lightweight virtualization
* Streaming capability without server or client

How does Full Speed work?

By default all Windows Operating Systems are configured to work with general and average Internet and network settings to accommodate the data rate capabilities of the communications technologies that existed at the time of Window's design. Windows XP is now 6 years old and nowadays the average speed of data on the internet and on networks is far greater than it was even a couple of years ago and so Windows Internet configurations and settings are out of date and it is the users who are taking the hit in the performance of their machines when online.

The default Windows settings and configurations means that anyone with any type of Internet connection will not be receiving the full speed, value or performance of their Internet connection especially with broadband.

Full Speed's optimization will instantly configure your Windows Operating System for high speed internet access and will configure it for the optimal performance for your Internet connection. Then you can enjoy the full speed and performance of the technology which you invested in.

Virtual Modem Pro creates software virtual IP-modems (and maps them to virtual serial ports) in your operating system. Virtual modems are the full emulation of the standard hardware modems.

Virtual Modem PRO 3.0

Virtual Modem PRO creates software virtual IP-modems and maps them to virtual serial ports in your operating system. Virtual modems fully emulate standard hardware modems. The main difference between standard modems and the virtual ones, created by Virtual Modem PRO, is that instead of using conventional telephone line they use Ethernet network, including Internet, VLAN, VPN, etc. Generally, standard modems are connected to the computer via serial ports (COM1/COM2 or COM3/COM4). Virtual modems, on the other hand, use virtual serial ports that are complete copies of real serial ports, and can be accessed and utilized in the usual way. Among the main advantages of using virtual modems are the speed and reliability of the transmitted data (since it uses fast Ethernet network and reliable TCP/IP protocol) as well as a considerable number (up to 255) of modems that can be created in any system.

Who can benefit from using virtual modems?

Every automation system that collects data from the remote hosts using modem and telephone line can greatly benefit from implementing Virtual Modem PRO. Among these are manufacturing/warehouse data acquisition systems, fiscal/data transfers in a banking system, retail management, etc. For example, your bank has invested a huge lump of money and connected all its branches into a Virtual Private Network by fiber optic cable. However, the data transfer system still uses legacy application and conventional telephone line.

hardware modem to hardware modem solution
Instead of spending yet more for new software development, and re-educating your staff, you can purchase Virtual Modem PRO and install it within minutes. It perfectly acts as middleware between modems and Internet.

reliable virtual modems solution
As a result, you continue to use the software you got used to and enjoy all the benefits of the faster and more reliable connection.

How virtual modems work?

Virtual Modem PRO uses virtual serial ports technology which fully emulates real serial ports and duplicates all their functionality. This innovative technology allows selecting any available protocol and opens a wide range of new creative opportunities for derived applications. Virtual modem attached to a virtual serial port, works in the same way as the real one (supports Hayes AT commands), however it uses TCP/IP protocol to establish connection to remote host. To create such connection the first virtual modem (local host) should be configured as a TCP/IP server that listens to incoming connections, while the other one (remote host) should be configured as a client to initiate the call. Every instance of the virtual modem could be configured to be server or client at any time depending whether you want to generate outgoing call or accept it (same as the standard modems). In addition, you may specify the TCP port which will be used to establish the link and IP-address or hostname of the server to connect to.

In order to establish such client-server connection you should install and set up Virtual Modem PRO on both ends. Single licenseallows you to install and use Virtual Modem PRO on two computers in a network. OEM license allows you not only to install the software on any number of computers and embed the technology into your own software, but also extend and modify Virtual Modem PRO (Source Code License may be required).

Virtual Fax

Since version 3.0 Virtual Modem PRO emulates fax modems (Fax Class 1 protocol compliant). Now you may set up and use Windows Fax service or any third-party application to send/receive faxes to any host on the Internet without hardware modems! Save you money on purchasing fax machine and sending long-distance faxes by using fast and reliable virtual modems! Simply try it yourself and be surprised of the fax transmission speed virtual modems provide which is much higher than the one of any real faxing machine. And you don't need additional pricy hardware and occupied phone line.

WinMount is a Windows utility which helps you manage your compressed archives impressively and conveniently.

With WinMount, you can mount ZIP, RAR or ISO file to a new drive so that you can use those files inside directly. You don't need to extract them first which implies that lots of time and disk space would be saved under many circumstances.

WinMount has already been in support of mounting ZIP, RAR, ISO, BIN, CUE and MDF formats. (besides that, we also plan supporting mounting a folder to a virtual drive).

WinMount supports Vista! WinMount supports Windows XP, Windows 2003, Windows 2000, Windows NT and Vista !

WinMount has already supported mounting ZIP and RAR archives and the following CD/DVD-ROM image file formats:

We also support mounting a folder on a virtual drive.

Let's take an example to illustrate how it works. Say, you've got a ZIP file such as "c:dir1.zip" , you can mount it on a newly created virtual drive. After you execute the corresponding command File->Mount->Mount Files) in the menu, your operating system will immediately notify you that a new device has been found, and a new drive letter, say H:, will be assigned to it. When the mounting process is finished, you can find all the original files inside that ZIP archive under H:. If you find another RAR file, say 2.rar, under H:, this RAR file still can be second-mounted on another new drive, say I:, after that , you can play the hot.avi (we assume that it exists in 2.rar) directly under I:.

More functions are on their way, check the list below:

WinMount---Totally don't need wait for decompression

Generally speaking, Zip or Rar files that we download from Internet need to be decompressed before we can actually use them. This decompression process goes like this: First, you need double-click this archive, then an associated decompresses will open its file list in a window. Now, if you double-click one of the files on the list, it seems that the file is opened automatically, but actually it, including all the other files on the list, has been decompressed to a temp folder in advance before it's opened. This whole decompression process usually takes a lot of time, especially in an age that archives go larger and larger. For instance, decompressing an archive larger than 1G often takes you 10 minutes or more depending on your computer's capability, but now if you have got WinMount at hand, you don't need to tolerate the boring moment spent in decompressing before you can actually use all the files inside the archive. When you've got your WinMount ready to work, you can just right-click on the archive, select "Mount to a new drive " menu item, a few seconds later, the operating system will notify you that a new device has been found and a new drive is created and ready to work. If you open it, you can see that all the files inside the archive are ready for your use.

By WinMount, you can also create a 32G empty virtual drive. Users often ask what it is for, well, the answer is this kind of drive is pretty much like a RAM Disk which is actually a virtual disk in the memory of a computer. Obviously it is very fast, everything in it, however, will be lost once the computer is restarted. WinMount doesn't take up much memory on new creation of the drive, but it will gradually take up some as the WRITE instructions are being executed.

WinMount---changes the way you use computer!

Some users reported that WinMount takes up too much memory, our answer to it is, this issue is not about winmount itself but your improper understanding. When a ZIP or RAR file is mounted on a virtual drive, WinMount just consumes a little bit memory, but it does consume a little bit more in the case that there is a very large file in the archive because WinMount needs some more memory to create INDEX and CACHE to promote performance. As to mounting ISO or BIN, WinMount consumes far less memory.

Another great function needs to be mentioned especially is you can create an image file by WinMount and then mount it on a virtual drive which is unformatted and its size can be specified by yourself, you are supposed to format the virtual drive before mounting anything, of course. There is another option which enables you to create, by default setting, a writable formatted 32G empty drive. Anything you write into it will be written back into the image file at the background. When you remount it next time, the stuff you
wrote into it before is still there. If you set NoWriteBack=TRUE in the command line, nothing will be written back into image file, this indicating that if you remount it, everything you wrote into the drive before will be lost. You might be wondering how you can benefit from this design. Well, due to windows' poor security system, it somehow increases the security level of your computer in a way.
