ProTeXt 1.3+


This is a LaTeX distribution, based on ProTeXt 1.3 ; it is a wonderful typesetting system,
which allows you to create professional documents in PDF ; to be more accurate, even if
this system is able to create very beautiful general documents, much better than Microsoft
Word (for example) would do, LaTeX is the best solution for typing scientific documents.

If you have to produce documents with mathematics, or physics, with quite complicated
formula, and if you are fed up with those 'formula editors' included in classic typewriting
programs such as Microsoft Word, then you will be able to fully appreciate LaTeX capabilities.


This file is the ISO image file of a DVD containing a modified version of ProTeXt 1.3, which
is, for me, the best LaTeX distribution for Personal Computers under Microsoft Windows. To
be more accurate, I updated some of the programs it included ; I explained exactly what I have
modified in a file named "Note à Lire.txt" on the DVD.

Besides, I considered that providing LaTeX without any introduction document to this fabulous
system would be terrible (indeed, I have to be honest with you, learning LaTeX is not such an
easy task...) ; thus, I put several tutorials for LaTeX in the "Extras" file of the disc.

Finally, you are probably wondering why a single program neccesitates 4 gigabytes of data...
This is simply because I also thought that I could provide some very useful programs, such as

- Cambridge Advanced Learner's Dictionary [an English dictionary]
- Lexibase Collins Français-Anglais (2002) [an bilingual dictionary, French, English]
- Maple 9.5 [a program for formal calculations ; a fantastic calculator for computer]
- ProTeXt 1.3 [the original version of ProTeXt 1.3]
- TeX Live 2005 [another famous LaTeX distribution].

Thus, you will find in this DVD all you need to use LaTeX and mathematics ; in addition to
that, since all these programs and many of the introduction documents for LaTeX that I
included in this disc are in English, thanks to the two dictionaries I included here, French
speaking users will also be able to use all this in quite comfortable conditions.
