Estelle, cantante di colore di ventotto anni nata e cresciuta a Londra e recentemente trasferitasi a New York. Dopo
un album di debutto, "The 18th Day", pubblicato nel 2004, nel 2006 Estelle s'imbatte, quasi per caso, in John Legend, che s'innamora del
personaggio e della sua voce e, dopo averla fatta partecipare al video del suo singolo "Save Room", se la porta in tour e le propone di
essere la prima artista a firmare per la sua nuova etichetta, la Homeschool Records, distribuita dall'Atlantic. Nasce così "Shine", un buon
disco di musica black contemporanea che contiene un brano decisamente al di sopra di tutti gli altri: "American Boy", un duetto con Kanye
West che è il secondo singolo per il mercato britannico ma il primo per il resto del mondo.
