Technical issues:
=================

Using Internet links within the program
---------------------------------------
This program includes a large set of direct links to the Internet.
In order to use the Internet connectivity you must have either
Explorer or Netscape (version 3 and above) browser installed on
your system.

When trying to open an Internet link from the program make
sure that you are already connected to your Internet Service Provider.
You can, of course, run the program without being
connected to the Web.

Notice that if an Internet link from the program is unavailable it
is NOT due to any malfunction of the software but to the fact that a
specific server is currently "dead" or the link is no longer valid.

If you don't have the updated drivers, you can download
the latest drivers from the following web sites:

It is highly recommended to update drivers for Sound & Graphics cards.

Personal Files
--------------
Student's details can be saved on a floppy diskette,
or under the installation path, in folder PersonalBodyEng.

Troubleshooting
---------------

Different problems, like no screen refresh, no response,
bad sound/Video/picture may be caused by unsuitable drivers
for sound or graphics cards.
Contact your hardware provider to get updated drivers.
You can also download updated drivers from the Internet -
Graphics Cards:
http://www.winfiles.com/drivers/video.html
http://www.windrivers.com/3d/3dcomp.htm
Sound Cards:

Fail to load program, you get the message: "Runtime error"
----------------------------------------------------------
Install DirectX.
click on the "DirectX" icon in the Program Group.
or See "Special Drivers" chapter.

Error message: "Internal runtime Error"
---------------------------------------
A common reason for such error messages is an unsuitable driver for the sound or graphics card.
Contact your hardware provider to get an updated drivers, or download one from the
internet as explained above.

Fail to run video. you get the message: "Runtime error"
-------------------------------------------------------
Exit the program.
Install "Windows Media Player". For instructions see the "Special Drivers" chapter.
Restart your computer.

Sound problems. You can't hear sound or music
---------------------------------------------
Exit the program.
Install "Windows Media Player". For instructions see the "Special Drivers" chapter.
Restart your computer.

------------------------------------------------------------
Install DirectX.
Click on the "DirectX" icon in the Program Group, or See "Special Drivers" chapter.

Viewing 3-D models
------------------
- Use a 3-D graphics accelerator card with Direct3d Support.
The graphics card is the card to which your monitor's cable
is connected. It is also known as "video adapter".
For viewing the 3-D models you MUST have a 3-D graphics
accelerator card with at least 4M MB of memory installed
on your system
- 3-D quality. The appearance and performance of the 3-D models
depends on the quality of your graphics card, on the
processor (CPU) capabilities, and on the system memory (RAM).
An older graphics card and a slow processor may strongly affect
the 3-D experience, display a low quality picture with "funny
looking art-effects," slow navigation capabilities, and
a poor frame-rate. To fully experience 3-D we suggest that you use
at the least a 350MHz processor, 64 MB of RAM
and a reasonable 3-D graphics card with 8MB of memory or
more (such as Matrox G-200 or Riva-TNT cards).
Use 800X600 screen resolution and 16-bits color
mode (65536 colors).
- Pentium-3 "awareness". This product is "Pentium-3 aware" which
means that you will experience better 3-D performance when
running it on a Pentium-3 processor based PC.
- Screen color-depth mode. Most 3-D graphics cards do not support
hardware acceleration in 24-bits color mode (also known as
"millions of colors" mode).
If you experience slow frame-rate try to change your color
mode to 16-bits (65536 colors) or to 32-bits.
This can be done in you display settings window activated
from your settingscontrol-panel folder.
- Screen resolution. This product is tuned to work under
800X600 screen resolution. However, 640X480 and 1024X768 screen
resolutions are also supported.
If you have only 4MB of memory on your graphics card you
may prefer 640X480 screen resolution which may deliver higher
frame-rate and smoother 3-D sensation.
- ATI cards. Some of ATI's graphics cards (such as ATI Rage-II or
ATI 12 do not fully support 16-bits color mode.
If you experience strange colors you may prefer a 32-bits color
mode for these cards.
- Voodoo's 3-D cards. This program uses a mixture of 2-D and 3-D windows.
Since some of Voodoo's 3-D cards support only
full-screen, non-window mode, these cards are NOT capable of
accelerating this software.
- Use updated drivers.
3-D is an evolving technology.
Most companies that manufacture graphics cards with 3-D support
continue to develop the "driver" (the software that runs the card)
AFTER the product is already on the market.
This is why many users have old, incomplete drivers with many bugs.
These bugs may cause visual mess on the screen while running the software.
To solve such problems we recommend that you download the most
updated drivers from the manufacturer's Internet site
(see the URL above), and install it.

Word processor recommendation
-----------------------------
The activities documents, which are a part of this product,
are optimized for viewing and editing using Microsoft Word.
However, most of them can be viewed reasonably using WordPad,
which is a standard Windows tool.
You may experience some difficulties viewing those documents which contain tables
and pictures, when using WordPad.

Working with other applications
-------------------------------
While working with this program, avoid minimizing or moving
to another applications using Alt+Tab.
If the upper menu disappears, it can be restored by clicking the right mouse button on the
program icon on the Task-Bar and clicking "Restore".

Lack of resources
-----------------
A blue frame will appear around the main screen, in case
of resources shortage.

DOS programs------------
You may experience problems when trying to run this program
and other DOS programs simultaneously.
The problem occurs when you move directly from a 3D module to
a full screen DOS program.
Solution: if you must use a DOS program simultaneously
with the program, try to view it in a Window mode.

PowerSave Utility
------------------
This product does not support PowerSave 1.0 utility.
If PowerSave shuts down the system while a 3-D world
is active it may be impossible to invoke the system and
you will have to reboot it.
Solution: Turn off PowerSave while running this product or
avoid leaving a 3-D World running without touching the mouse or
keyboard (so PowerSave will not be activated).

Enjoy yourself.
