ttylinux is a minimalistic GNU/Linux distribution. It aims to fit into 4 megabytes of space and run even on 486 class computers, but provides a rather complete command line environment and is prepared for Internet dial-out. Target audience:
For end users, ttylinux provides a basic Linux system that can be installed on a low-end computer and used to access the Internet and World Wide Web. A bootable CD-ROM version that can run out-of-the-box on most PC systems is available. There is also an installer that can install the distribution onto hard disk after booting from the CD-ROM version. More experienced users can download a filesystem image of the
distribution to put on arbitrary boot media.

For developers, ttylinux can be used as a base for building your own minimalist Linux distribution. Full source code is available, including a modularized build system that automates distribution builds and makes it easy to take packages out of the system or add new ones.
