Torrent description

New Mitea MailDefender v3 now freeware

MailDefender v3 is an email antivirus/antispam gateway it comes with an easy to use web interface where you can follow the mail flow. It is also an advanced mail archive server, where you always can search, find and release old mails.

The backend of MailDefender v3 is based on well knowing Open Source products, such like Amavisd-new, postfix and Spamassassin. We have used the best parts of each program and made our own secure email gateway.

It doesn’t need and linux knowledge to use our system, all settings can be controlled by the administration web interface where you can customize general and user settings for all your email domains.

The system is based on a debian linux, where we have added several different components to work as we want.

As I mention before Mitea MailDefender v3 is build on several different open source components like PostgreSQL, Postfix, Amavisd-new, Apache2, Razor, Pyzor, Spamassassin, ClamAV and BitDefender. What we have done is that we have modified Amavisd-new, so it fits 100% to our needs, and we have given it three different levels, so we more precisely is able to categorize email in not spam, possible and spam. We have also made it possible to have different levels of access, so an administrator can login and manage the whole domain and all users email accounts, but a standard user will only be able to manage his own email account.

All the data is stored in a PostgreSQL database. Here we have also made some changes, so all the entries are stored for our needs to give the best performance and security.

Another big part of the development was to make a user friendly, but also an advanced web interface, where you fast and easy can have a comprehensive view, but also able to setup complex rules for incoming emails. The web interface is written from scratch, so we could adjust it exactly to the feed back demand we have got from different email administrators.

To manage the admin users and domains, we have also made an administrator interface, here the IT administrator is able to control the settings that is needed to run the Mitea MailDefender in his company. The IT administrator does not need any linux knowledge or other unix skills to manage and maintain the server. In the administrator interface, the IT administrator is able to set network settings and watch statistic information.
We have also made a nice wizard that runs first time a user startup Mitea MailDefender. The wizard will guide the user though all steps that is necessary to get the appliance to work.

1. Unzip and start Mitea MailDefender on VMware Server / player / VI3
2. Open a web browser and logon the admin interface (https://[your ip]/admin)
3. After logon the first time wizard will automatically start

You will also always have the possibility to logon to the linux console, if you need to make some advanced setting.

Username: root
Password: mitea.dk

New future in version 3 is:
- Support for Outbound mailtraffic
- Support for LDAP
- Individual user login
- Attachment filter rules
- Auto whitelist
- Improved performance
- Better rapporting and statistic
- Bugfixes
