Steve Coleman est un des saxophoniste les plus créatifs du moment, son 'son' est exceptionnel, sa technique monstrueuse et son sens du rythm impressionnant. Ces créations se caractérises par une complexité et une poly-rythmie 'visionnaire', qui cependant donne un 'groove' très accessible, même au non amateur de jazz (c'en est pas d'ailleur). Ses influences musicales sont très larges, il travail avec des chanteur de Hip-hop de New York(Metrix) ou des chanteuses classique Japonaises(Lucidarium) ou des percussioniste Cubains(The Sign and the Seal), etc..
3 albums de son groupe 'five elements', avec Sean Rickman, batteur hors paire, qui s'excite bien avec Anga (jesus diaz) au percusions!
