School Tycoon is a computer game developed by Cat Daddy Games and published by Global Star Software. The game was designed to be easier and less complicated than other Tycoon games, removing the spreadsheets and statistics of game management.
The game has a view from above a field where a school is to be built. Pathways and buildings need to be laid out properly in order for students to get to their classes quickly and efficiently. The objectives in the game increase in difficulty as the player progresses; an easy objective might be to get thirty students into school, while a more difficult objective would be to earn a set amount of money within a time limit.
There is a sandbox where there are no objectives, giving the player the freedom of building a school without the worry of failing to reach goals.
Students in the school can learn ten different subjects. When starting off a school, the player can build a small portable classroom. As finances increase more friendly and larger classrooms can be built, helping the students to learn more. As well as academic classrooms the player can also build sports facilities such as basketball courts, tennis courts and football fields.
Entertainment buildings, statues, fountains, benches, bathrooms, food areas, etc. will help increase morale. Strict teachers and detentions areas increase discipline. Large academics and skilled teachers will increase academics. Skilled coaches, and lots of sports areas will get good athletic marks.
To achieve a 5-star school rating, you'll need to have at least 90% (A or A+) on each of the following: morale, athletics, academics, discipline, and total grade.
The game view can be close up to see garbage on walkways, or to click certain students. The player can also zoom out looking at the whole park itself. The game can also be sped up, from 2x as fast, to 4x as fast. It has difficulty settings beginner to hard, easy as getting 10 students to the school, and as hard as building a 5-star school.
