This is the only episode I have and it was not originally mine, so I'd like to thank the original capper for his effort.

'The World According To Smith & Jones' was Mel Smith and Griff Rhys Jones' attempt to create an alternative series with LWT from their BBC show - 'Alas Smith & Jones'. The show was set out with old movie clips and Smith and Jones were there to make satirical comments.

The series is not particularly remembered well, critics didn't like the series and it was pretty much a disaster for ITV, but viewers were fine with the series. Despite all negative views, a second series was comissioned and transmitted in January and February 1988, but slowly drifted away and never returned for any repeats at all.

Smith and Jones almost ended their careers at the BBC from doing this series! But after a surprise when the fourth series at the Beeb was a sucess in late '87, their careers were saved and a fifth series appeared in '89 now on BBC1 instead of BBC2.

This is worth downloading as a look into "big budget disaster series" which the beeb and ITV used to make once in a while back in the 70's and 80's.

Quality is slightly jumpy at the beginning.

It's not actually a bad programme in any way, but one can see all the mistakes from viewing.

The original adverts are included in the file, which is a great extra for nostalga fans like myself.
