Award-winning actor/comedian Steve Coogan (better known as Alan Partridge) stars as Samuel Pepys - a high ranking, brilliant and widely respected Admiralty official who was also a cheat, a wife beater and a liar.

In 1679, Pepys was put on trial for embezzling Navy funds. His diaries could save him from being hung, drawn and quartered but they would also expose him for what he was.
