This truly unique and amazing one man show was recorded live on stage with no
edits for Showtime. There is an intro by Penn and Teller. I recommend reading
the comments on IMDB to see what others have to say about the performance.
It got a 9.5/10, but only 72 votes because so few people ever got to see it
as it aired only a few times and there is no DVD available.

I was lucky enough to see it and taped it, unfortunately it was taped in
SLP mode and 17 years later the tape is *very* noisy. I tried several vcrs
and captured it on the one with the best picture, still not very good though.
I filtered the noise with virtualdub's dynamic noise reduction set at max (31).
I tried several filters including flaxen's vhs filter, which was very slow and
didn't really improve the picture noticeably. Still, there is no jitter and it's
very watchable.

Check out the sample video in this torrent to see the video quality and
kind of comedy Steven does.

I did a 2 pass XVID encode with a target bitrate of 1500kb/s, anything lower and
it was very blocky due to the still high noise level. The resulting file was
a good compromise of quality and file size, although still big for a 1 hour video.
The file plays on my Philips dvp-642 player.

I was not able to find any other copy of this video other than on YouTube, which
was very low res and chopped into 6 parts. As noisy as this video is, it's the
best one out there (so far). I'm hoping someone has a better copy out there and
makes available a better quality video. I would love to have a better copy.

In this brilliant one-man show, the mild-mannered, thirty-something Steven Banks
arrives home after a long day at his dead-end corporate job, still dreaming of
being a rock star. Steven receives a message on his machine from his boss,
Mr. Buttle, informing him that he never received an urgent speech Steven wrote
for the board of directors. Steven must scramble to write a new one,
but he has less than an hour to do it. Along the way,
he continually procrastinates and distracts himself from the task at hand,
playing with toys and various musical instruments, baking cookies,
putting on costumes, leafing through an old high school yearbook and
performing some hilarious original songs along the way.
Meanwhile, he's got to deal with his grumpy landlord Mr. Mescue,
his clingy girlfriend Phoebe and even a broken toilet.
Will Steven ever finish his speech?
Or does fate have something else in mind for him?
