Lulu's Back In Town
Saturday, 25th April 2009
11:45pm to 12:10am
BBC4
In the way that they do this sort of thing, BBC4 is running a night of shows dedicated to British Pop Divas in all their forms. As a part of this they are running five entertainment shows in the style that used to be popular in the 1960s and 70s, all fronted by a British female vocalist.
The fourth in the pack is an episode from 1968 of Lulu's Back In Town. Sadly the BBC have not been terribly forthcoming in saying which episode it was and when it was first broadcast, other than the year.
What we can say is that everyone in the show looks a lot younger than expected. We've Lulu herself belting out a few numbers. Then a comedian - my god! it's Les Dawson - who does a little duet Lulu. And everything gets wrapped up with an appearance by the Everly Brothers; they do a number and then are joined by our host for a finale.
