Each week this series revisits seven classic TV shows in the company of some of Britain’s most-loved actors whilst learning of the fabulous and fascinating ways that they all intertwine. Drama Trails will take viewers on an exciting star-studded journey to the places and people that inspired, formed the backdrop for or in some way contributed to the development of these outstanding programmes.

Along the way, we will see emotion as actors return to sentimental locations; we will hear of the remarkable lengths to which many go to capture their characters; and we will simply hear some fabulous gossip about the stars and what goes on behind-the-scenes of our favourite TV drama serials.



Episode Information:


Episode 1 - From Coronation Street to Kingdom (2 July 2008)



Episode one takes us on a journey between Britain's longest running soap, Coronation Street to current ITV1 ratings hit, Kingdom. As we explore the links between these two hit shows we follow a journey which takes us from Coronation Street to Touching Evil – we speak to show stars Bill Roach and Robson Green respectively.

Moving down the trail we follow the links from Touching Evil to Auf Weidersehen Pet on to Wycliffe, where we speak to series’ star Jack Shepherd. Moving onwards we go At Home With The Braithwaites and gain fascinating insights into the series from writer Sally Wainwright and series star Peter Davidson. The final link in the chain before we arrive at Kingdom and speak to Tony Slattery is recent thriller Mobile.

Episode 2 - From Jewel in the Crown to Band of Gold (9 July 2008)



Episode 2 takes us on a journey between one of the best drama adaptations The Jewel in the Crown to Band of Gold. As we follow the links between these two hit shows we explore a journey which takes us from The Jewel in the Crown to the family drama Wild at Heart, where we talk to the show star Amanda Holden.

Moving down the trail we follow the journey from Wild at Heart to Jeeves and Wooster then on to Morse, where we gain look into the books behind the show with author Colin Dexter. Before we arrive at Band of Gold, we visit the final link in the chain, Vincent, where we chat to series star Suranne Jones.

Episode 3 - From Doc Martin to Foyle's War (16 July 2008)

The final link, before we arrive at Cold Blood, is hit family drama The Royal where we chat to show stars Wendy Craig and Michelle Hardwick.

Next in the chain is Bouquet of Barbed Wire where we chat to the show star Susan Penhaligon. Moving on we explore the last link before our final destination which is Boon and finally we arrive at A Touch of Frost where we speak to series star John Lyons, who plays D.S. Toolan.
