September Tide is set in a comfortable house on a Cornish estuary in which we first meet the widowed Stella, a woman of considerable gifts and beauty who regularly rejects proposals of marriage from her sturdy neighbour Robert Hanson. Cherry, Stella's lively daughter, brings home her artist husband Evan for the first time and Stella is shocked by the bohemian incompleteness of their marriage. She finds herself attracted to Evan and soon they are passionately in love ....

This was one of three stage plays by Daphne du Maurier, and was premiered at the Aldwych Theatre on 15th December 1948.

First broadcast on BBC Radio 4 as the Saturday Play on 2nd April 2005.
Recorded from BBC 7 in April 2009.
