Super fight three known as "The Thrilla in Manila" this is the third and final boxing match between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier for the Heavyweight Boxing Championship of the World, fought at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City, Metro Manila, Philippines on October 1, 1975.
Ali and Frazier had met two times before, the first time in March 1971 when the latter was Champion while the second in January 1974 was a Championship decider to see who would fight then World Champion George Foreman in which Ali won. Having then beaten Foreman, Frazier was considered unfinish business.
There was intense rivalry between them. Ali constantly assaulted his rival with verbal taunts and always outwitted him in public. Ali resented the fact that Frazier was almost his equal in the boxing ring. The fight was scheduled for 11a.m start to accomidate television in the United States television and would be a fifteen round bout.
