"Armchair Theatre" was a British television drama anthology series, which ran on the ITV network from 1956 until 1968 in its original form, and was intermittently resurrected at various points during the 1970s. It was produced initially by ABC Television, and in the 1970s by ABC's successor company Thames Television.


Synopsis: A light comedy about two sisters Florence and Nellie who inherit their brother Charles' arto deco home. "As living examples of Christian charity," they see this as an opportunity to extend their charitable works, not only to family, newlyweds Nicholas and Sally, but also to Basher Bates, a former crook who is going straight.
When the sisters find some of Charles' cash hidden in the walls it appears to be a blessing from god making them even more eager to do greater good deeds for the needy. When Sally and Nicholas attempt to spend the cash they discover the money is forged panic sets it. Problems begin to escalate when a printing press is found in a secret cellar and the sisters are torn between doing charitable deeds or admiting their crimes but with a lodger like Basher Bates living in the house perhaps there is a middle way.
