Starring Ninia Benjamin, Tameka Empson and Jocelyn Jee Esien, the show was an original fusion of sketch-comedy and filmed pranks, which cast members of the public as bit-players in part-scripted, part-improvised skits.

A positive and upfront statement of what the new digital channel (BBC Three) was all about, the show's performers were relative unknowns, assembled by hidden camera supremo Gary Reich, who'd previously worked with Ali G and Dom Joly.

In a marked difference from mainstream comedy, this was a series about three black women (hence the title), and yet, throughout its life, the performers were adamant that neither gender nor colour were anything to do with the humour.
