Driver: Parallel Lines is the fourth game in the Driver video game series. The game was released on March 14 (March 17 in Europe), 2006 on the Xbox and PlayStation 2 consoles by Atari, Wii and PC on June 26, 2007 (June 28, 2007 in Europe) by Ubisoft. Many people think that Driver: Parallel Lines and Driver 4 are the same game but this is wrong, in a 1UP video interview production manager Gareth Edmondson answers the question "This isn't Driver 4, right ?" with the straightforward response “No, this is called Driver: Parallel Lines and is not Driver 4; we wanted to get away from the idea that this was just a sequel and so on
The year was 1978 and TK was just a getaway driver for people that rob nickel and dime stores. His friend Ray (protagonist of Driver 76) introduces him to Slink, who is a pimp. Over time Slink introduces TK to the Mexican. As with Slink, TK does more work. Later at TK's apartment, Bishop visits him and asks him to break Candy out of Rikers Island. This takes you to your final boss Corrigan who is planning a Kidnap to scare a Drug Lord out of his territory. However after you collect the ransom. TK is shot and wounded as Corrigan kills Martinez (the drug lord) and identifies himself as a police officer. TK gets 28 years in prison. In 2006 Ray picks up TK from jail and tells him where the Mexican is. After a long chase and shootout, TK delivers the corpse in front of Corrigan's feet. Ray introduces TK to Maria, Candy's assistant. Then TK kills Slink who is shooting a film. He tries to kiss up to TK then asks a junkie to kill TK (however he forgets the safety and is killed). TK chases and kills Slink. Bishop calls later and says he wants to go one on one. However Bishop has a tank. TK then kills Bishop. Through work, TK learns Candy bought a new house. As TK enters two guards hold him at gunpoint. Candy injects TK with drugs and tries to kill Maria (thinking she betrayed him). However TK kills the guards and Chases and kills Candy. As TK returns to Ray, he sees Corrigan. Ray had betrayed TK. Corrigan used TK to eliminate Slink, Candy, Bishop and the Mexican. Corrigan then kills Ray and shoots at a closet in which Maria Cortez is in. Corrigan escapes out an open window. TK learns that Maria was Martinez daughter. Maria helps deliver the corpses of Slink and Candy to Corrigan. Corrigan hides in Witness Security but is found by Maria. Corrigan runs to a helicopter. TK hops in a car and shoots down Corrigan's helicopter. However Corrigan survives and is held at gunpoint. However instead of killing him, he gives Corrigan to Maria.
Driver: Parallel Lines takes place in an entirely open-world environment. Instead of choosing minigames from a menu as in previous Driver titles, minigames are now accessed from the in-game world. Many changes have been made from DRIV3R, including visible blood when someone is shot, a money system, fully modifiable vehicles, environment destruction (i.e., lamp posts can now be run over and fire hydrants can break, spewing water into the air), and a new felony system that differentiates between personal felony and felony "attached" to vehicles the player has used. If the player attracts police attention on foot or in a certain vehicle and then loses the police and enters a "clean" car, their wanted level will be suspended. It can be reactivated, though, by spending too much time in the sight of a police officer, who will eventually recognize the player as "wanted". The same principle applies to out-of-car activities, such as weapon use, and allows the player to holster a weapon in order to lose police attention until spotted committing illegal acts again. For the Wii version, the felony bar has been replaced with Grand Theft Auto-esque "stars" which light up when the player attracts police attention. Jumping is also disabled.
