I captured this episode and those to follow from 3 original ex-rental VHS tapes that have random episodes on them (as they did back before 'box sets' became normal.) I only have 6 episodes, those are; S01 E01 - Pilot, S01 E03 - Azrael's Breed, S01 E08 - Rage, S01 E09 - Aerobe, S01 E10 - Eliza and S01 E11 Down Came The Rain.

The tapes I captured these episodes from are original ones that have Copy Protection on them, I had to use a video stabilizer and other tricks to remove all artifacts, but occasionally the video has slightly slower framerate - this is due to the Copy Protection doing its job, the end .avi I upload, is the best result of my methods I can do to remove it. :) There is no variation in the video or audio brightness/contrast/colours and values etc thanks to my using a Video Stabilizer and a direct to PC capture.

Oddly, Tape (1) has episodes 01 and 10, tape (2) has episodes 03 and 11, tape (3) has episodes 08 and 09.....That was how The X-files tapes were for years before it was common to release VHS/DVD box sets of tv shows. I will upload them is as close to correct order as I can with the 6 episodes that I do have, someone please fill in the remaining episodes and PM me or add a comment to let me know if you have the remaining episodes. :)

I restored the video and audio to the best of my current ability. The video is 320x240 - 4:3 (full Screen) ratio 25FPS, DivX5 Codec, Dolby Stereo Audio.

I used the Freeware applications; VirtualDub and Audacity to capture, restore, edit and compress the video and audio for this episode on a PC - I have no need for a Mac. :D

After earning his medical and post-doctoral degrees from Johns Hopkins University, Dr. Paul Turner climbed quickly through the Army ranks, rising to the position of Captain with USAMRIID, the US Army's Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases. It was during his tenure with USAMRIID that Turner served in the Persian Gulf war, where a sneak attack from an Iraqi soldier left Turner exposed to an unknown biological agent.

Turner spent the next six years of his life struggling against Gulf War Syndrome and against the Army's reluctance to accept responsibility for the countless veterans suffering from it. Despite the best efforts of Sydney MacMillan, his doctor at the VA, Turner lingered dangerously close to death... until a mysterious Japanese Woman visited Turner in the hospital and provided him with a serum that sent his illness (aplastic anemia)into instantaneous remission. She saved him then and she continues to provide him with the needed serum to keep the disease in remission. She has a hidden agenda and needs Turner to help her accomplish certain goals.

Just a few months after making a miraculous recovery, Turner returned to the Army as a Special Investigator in USAMRIID (U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases). His assignment: to investigate criminal abuses of science (delving into areas such as human cloning, gene splicing, and chemical weaponry). In a world where scientists play God simply because they can, Turner is the voice of reason wondering if they should.

"Science is changing a lot faster than we expected, faster than anyone realizes".

"Why are people more afraid of aliens from outer space than they are the monsters we're creating ourselves?"

Strange World is a short-lived American television program about military investigations into criminal abuses of science and technology. ABC commissioned thirteen episodes, of which only three aired in March, 1999, before they cancelled the program. By the time ABC officially axed the show, the producers were finalizing the last episode. The remaining ten episodes subsequently premiered on SciFi in the Spring of 2002.

The series was created by former X-Files, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Angel producer Howard Gordon and Tim Kring, creator of Crossing Jordan and Heroes.

In a webchat during the 2002 run on SciFi, co-creator Howard Gordon stated that, since the producers knew ABC wasn't going to support the show before the premiere of the first episode, they had the opportunity to write a conclusion to the story. Thus, he asserts the show is best considered as a completed miniseries rather than a cancelled television program.

The opening titles were noteworthy for their graphic innovation, drawing the attention of the American Institute of Graphic Arts. The sequence was added to AIGA's permanent collection in 1999. It was created by Imaginary Forces, a firm also responsible for the Comedy Central and Lifetime network rebrandings and the 102 Dalmatians titles in 2000, the Arlington Road titles in 1999, and various other AIGA-recognized advertisements and logos.

All thirteen episodes aired on the Chiller Cable tv network in the US beginning in March 2007.
