This time i chose speed over quality/filesize. Erklar was very fast with releasing the DVD source,
so instead of making it a 1CD 2-pass version (which takes over 10 hours) i went with a single pass
version. But since single pass results in a lower quality at the same bitrate i increased the
bitrate to maintain quality. So this time the file size is just under 1GB.
The source video had to be de-interlaced, cropped and resized, so it's not superb quality,
but i think it comes pretty close to the source quality.
If you can't play these MKV/x264/AAC files you can either install VLCplayer or if you
for instance have a HTPC running Windows Media Center Edition you can install the
decoder pack so you can watch these files (and MP4 files) using Windows MCE (or windows
media player for that matter).
Container: Matroska (MKV)*
Video specs: 704x528 @ 25FPS
Video compressor: x264 @ 1200Kbit 1-Pass
Audio specs: 44.1Khz Stereo
Audio compressor: WinAMP HE-AAC with PNS @ 40Kbit
*I was going to use MP4 this time, but for reason i couldn't get the audio in sync and the delay
string didn't do anything. I'll try to find another MP4 muxer for next time.
Big thanks to all the guys capturing NBA games and putting them online for us, you guys rock!
