This is a song by Australian Country Music singer JR Williams, about the present drought in

Rural
Victoria, and the Brumby government's plans to build a pipeline to STEAL water from this
Drought-stricken area, and the almost destroyed Murray Darling Basin, to send it to Melbourne,
to flush down toilets, and water gardens with.

This insane plan (called the "North-South Pipeline" or the "Sugarloaf Interconnector") is part
of the Brumby government's Foodbowl Modernisation Scheme, which they claim will create huge
savings in the Victorian irrigation system. While some savings will occur, most of the savings
are false, based on lies, misused figures, and long term averages which are no longer
irrelevant.

73% of Australia's food supply is produced in the region that Brumby plans to steal this water
from, and a large amount of this food production will be destroyed by these plans, and it will
destroy businesses, families, towns, cities (Bendigo and Ballarat, who are now dependant on the


failing Lake Eildon), and the environment. (Some of the water in the Goulburn River, where the
water is to be stolen from, has already TURNED INTO SULPHERIC ACID! the situation is so bad)
yet Brumby and his mates are hell-bent on so arrogantly pushing ahead with these plans.

Melbourne has other water alternatives, which will be better for everyone. Melbourne let’s run
out to sea, more water than they currently use, and if the caught this storm water, it would
more than satisfy their water needs.

Instead, Mr Brumby wants to connect Melbourne to one failing dam, (Eildon), which is already
failing its existing users. The irrigators in the Goulburn Murray irrigation district are
already receiving zero-allocations, which means they pay hundreds of thousands of dollars for
water ("virtual water" thanks to Mr Bricks - former premier), and do not receive a single drop,


or any kind of refund. Bendigo and Ballarat are now facing the same, as their water authority
has been given a low security water allocation, the same as irrigators. Melbourne, on the other


hand, is getting a high security allocation from the same water system. Clearly Mr Brumby
thinks the people of Melbourne (majority of the voters) are more important than the rest of the


people in the state.

The government has already proven that they have no factual argument to support their dreadful
plan, and, as a result, they have resorted to insulting anyone who dares to speak against them.


They have effectively branded almost the entire Rural Northern Victorian Population, and alot
of others, as "Liars", "Quasi-Terrorists from north of the divide", "Ugly, Ugly people", and "A


Sorry, sorry lot from the bush."

The pipeline will move 75gl (75 billion litres) of water for 75km's, using coal fired pumps,
over a mountain range. The greenhouse gas emissions from this is roughly equivalent to putting
an extra 38,000 more cars on the road every year in perpetuity.

One more thing... The government spin machine wants people to believe that there is a large
amount of community support for these plans, and that it is only a small minority that are
opposed to the plans. This is a lie. VIRTUALLY ALL of Rural Northern Victoria is TOTALLY
OPPOSED to these plans.
