The Adventures of Sir Lancelot 128 The Mortaise Fair (6 Apr 1957) sample frame from video
In days of old, when knights were bold, valiant young Lancelot comes to Camelot to join King Arthur's Round Table. In each episode he rights a wrong or rescues a damsel in distress, accompanied by lots of swordplay, horseplay, and scenic backgrounds. Star William Russell would later become famous in Doctor Who as companion Ian Chesterton.
In this episode, while visiting Mortaise Castle, Queen Guinevere is presented with a priceless jewel from the Rajah of Kaipur. Shortly afterward there is a fire, and during the excitement the jewel is stolen.
Unlike ITC's other 'Adventures of...' historicals like Robin Hood, half of the 30 episodes of The Adventures of Sir Lancelot were filmed in color, even though in 1957 they were only broadcast in black and white. This is the 10th of the 12 surviving color episodes.
