The Adventures of Sir Lancelot 119 Sir Crustabread (26 Jan 1957) sample frame from video
In days of old, when knights were bold, valiant young Lancelot comes to Camelot to join King Arthur's Round Table. In each episode he rights a wrong or rescues a damsel in distress, accompanied by lots of swordplay, horseplay, and scenic backgrounds. Star William Russell would later become famous in Doctor Who as companion Ian Chesterton.
In this episode, King Arthur gives Sir Lancelot a fake name and sends him off to champion a lady who is being forced into marrying an unscrupulous man.
Unlike ITC's other 'Adventures of...' historicals like Robin Hood, half of the 30 episodes of The Adventures of Sir Lancelot were filmed in color, even though in 1957 they were only broadcast in black and white. This is the 4th of the 12 surviving color episodes.
William Russell as Sir Lancelot
Ronald Leigh-Hunt as King Arthur
Jane Hylton as Queen Guinevere
Cyril Smith as Merlin
