Spirit of Wonder and 'a series of OAV is a manga by Kenji Tsuruta, master of science fiction dreams. Despite being presented as a single feature, this is four OAV collected into one DVD: "Scientific Boys" (divided into two parts), "Reduction of China" and "Planet of China." This book reproduces the atmosphere typical of the early science fiction 900, taking as point of reference the works of Jules Verne. This is a kind of science fiction and carefree dreamer.
This anime puo'essere seen something very unusual in the Japanese scene of animation, not only for the setting and the historical reconstruction, but also for the narrative style that uses a screenplay set in a timeframe similar to that in which Verne has set his works more 'famous.

"Scientific Boys" (OAVs 1 -2)
Bristol, 1958. The club of young scientists is celebrating its fiftieth anniversary. Gordon, Cooper and Shepard are not more 'young, but inside their hearts they still have a great desire to land on Mars, the planet that has always fascinated and encouraged them to create their own club. A book written by the daughter of Gordon, and openly mocked by the scientific community, it could turn into reality their desire ........ reach the red planet ....

"Reduction of China" (OAV 3)
China operates a pension / restaurant in Bristol. Two of his "guests" have her boyfriend and Dr. Jim Breckenridge. The two spend their time with the realization of the strange devices, and this time focused on building a radius rimpicciolitore which, even to do that on purpose, ends with the strike China, which from that day will increasingly smaller. At this point, the inventors get to work to try to reverse the process ....

"Planet of China" (OAV 4)
Jim and Dr Breckenridge are again at work. The two inventors, this time they built a reflecting telescope "..... a strange contraption, which should show on earth visible portions of the solar system, but in scale. But something goes wrong and land is shown on the soil of Mars. Walking along the Martian soil, China, discovered the ruins of a city, with great astonishment the three are beginning to explore, but at once something wrong with the vision and degenerates, and China fighting against a huge monster emerged from the mouth of Doctor Breckenridge, the two scientists are beginning to wonder if what they see is the result of their experiment and if it is just un'allucinazione ....
