Amongst an increasing number of promising Hard Rock bands that sprang up in the early 80s from Swedish shores. SYRON VANES, founded in Malmö during 1981, was led by ex-HIGH LEVEL vocalist Rix Volin (real name Erik Briselius). The group had already established a local fanbase and had toured in Denmark and Germany before finding itself picked up by the British independent label Ebony Records for a five album deal.
SYRON VANES travelled to the UK to cut their debut album with Ebony owner Darryl Johnston acting as producer. At this juncture the record company requested the musicians take on anglicised stage names and so the pseudonyms of Syron Vanes Rix Volin, guitarists Andy Seymore (Anders Hahne) and Rimmy Hunter (Rimbert Vahlström), bass player Ace Greensmith and drummer Stephen Mavrock (Staffan Lindstedt). The 'Bringer Of Evil' album was issued in September 1984 and, backed by touring in the UK, Holland, Germany, Belgium and Poland, sold well internationally, exceeding the 100,000 sales mark.
Greensmith left after the debut album to be replaced by Dick Qwarforth for a second album entitled 'Revenge'. Acknowledging that the production values on 'Bringer Of Evil' had been less than desirable SYRON VANES recorded 'Revenge' in Sweden under their own auspices and that of engineer Peter Berge. Changes saw Volin and Qwarforth opting out in 1987. Hunter took control of lead vocal responsibilities. The band participated in the Swedish Rock Championship that was held in Malmö during 1988. Having withdrawn from the Ebony deal the Azra International made an offer in 1989 but this was declined. Although demos were recorded with the new singer, SYRON VANES split before any new deal was acquired. Dick Qwarforth would re-appear in Glam outfit NASTY IDOLS a few years later.
The band made an unexpected return a decade later. Having incorporated new bass player Jakob Lagergren the band took to the stage again in March of 2001. The 'Insane' album followed in March of 2003.
