But what then seemed like only the first major achievement in a soon to be legendary career sadly proved to be its highlight, as the band gradually fell from grace in the next few years. For what it's worth, however, Live at Donington 1980 captures Saxon at their concert fiercest, overcoming technical difficulties and a less than perfect sound mix to deliver a dazzling performance. Classics like "Motorcycle Man," "Stallions of the Highway," and "Wheels of Steel" are made all the more exciting by the uniqueness of the original event and the band's tangible surge of adrenaline at being there.
