English metal trio from the NWOBHM era. Raven was formed in late-70\'s in Newcastle, England by brothers Mark (guitar) and John Gallagher (bass/vocals), and drummer Rob ``Wacko`` Hunter. They signed with independent Neat Records and laid the groundwork for what would become known as thrash metal, although Raven commonly referred to themselves as ``Athletic Rock!`` This was not a bad description as Raven were over-the-top, energetic, British heavy metal.
