Prospect - 2002 - Moments [256]Country: SloveniaGenre: Progressive MetalWeb: Review at Progressive World:Imagine a country where there is virtually no prog-metalscene, some 12 years ago, where three friends started a metal band under thename Without. They practised and played for several years without a vocalist. But then a huge DT fan showed up and joined the band. In 1998, they entered astudio and recorded there official debut album, "#1", completelyself-financed. Nevertheless, the 1700 copies sold out and even reached the USA.The band, now called Prospect, got a lot of airplay as well as other mediaattention and now they have released their second album, Moments. From the first spin on, I am very impressed with theseguys! Rock solid songs, mind blowing keyboards, excellent rhythm section, amazing guitar player and a passionate singer. The compositions are verystructured and show they have some experience in songwriting. Although somesongs sound a bit catchy, like "Changing," with a nice bass loop, they manage to make the songs sound above average with the crunchy guitarriffs, crystal clear keys and the fantastic vocals. Singer Simon Jovanovic isreally a very good singer! But the sum of all band members make Prospect such agood band. "Orient Express" is definitely one of the best songs onthe album, dark, ambient keyboard sounds and a subtle bass guitar to open thesong, then complemented by equal subtle drums and guitars, which flows intoheavy riffs and the oriental influences in the song, all add to the atmosphere. This is one of the two instrumentals on the album, but a great one. The guitarriffs on "The Man Who Walks Alone" are also very good and show thatguitarist Roman Files is an excellent guitarist. "Jaded Son" is adelicate ballad, the passionate vocals, piano sounds and haunting guitar parts."Unspoken" is a dark, mysterious song, where keyboardist RokPlestenjak can show off his talent. Exccellent album by some very talented and professionalmusicians who know how to compose strong songs. Good production and very hardto put away. I think we will hear much more of this band, when they get moreattention world wide, because these guys are really good. Too bad singer Jovanovichdecided to leave the band. He is replaced by Robert Grdich, so it will beinteresting to see how he will sound. But Moments will be a must have for you,as this band truly needs your support to keep on making this amazing music!
