Various Artists - The Blue Box - Blue Note's Best (APE+CUE)
Please keep seeding as long as you can.
When you visit the jazz section of your favorite record store (any) over the past few years, you have probably noticed the incredible proliferation of luxury boxes (or box sets) that have sprung on the shelves.
By bringing together four, six or sometimes even a dozen CD most of the work of a great musician or "son" of a label, the record companies have adopted and marketed the principle of "best of the best" after a few successful attempts with a consumer increasingly collector.
Last-born of this lineage, the "Blue Box" Blue Note combines in four CDs and four and a half hours of music, recording the most significant and recognizable by 32 renowned artists: Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Thelonious Monk, Jimmy Smith, Chick Corea, Wayne Shorter, Stanley Jordan and so forth.
The purpose of this compilation? Bringing in a single collection the "best of the best of ', ie the best moments of the quarantine of discs that launched the venerable record company since 1989, each dedicated to a musician who he is or was involved.
Performances vocal or instrumental, the auditor will find melodies recent (Blue Bossa of Joe Henderson), classics (Blue Train John Coltrane) or rare gems ( "Summertime" by Sidney Bechet).
There is also a booklet of 16 pages which summarizes the story behind the 43 exhibits and musicians who interpret them.
