laurelei was born in early 2000, with christopher kincaid (original hopesfall bassist,) adam baker, brian barker, jay forrest and buck harvey as the first line up. the music was a melodic mix of metal and hardcore with heavy emotional climaxes. the band recorded their only effort in december of 2000, with the original line up. shortly after, jay forrest moved to oklahoma for university. the band continued on, adding a new member, daniel owen, on bass, while brian barker moved from bass to guitar. laurelei disbanded in 2001. the members have since moved on to bigger and better things. jay forrest is now the vocalist for hopesfall. christopher kincaid, adam baker, brian barker and daniel owen gave gave a full band presence to a longtime side project for kincaid, called, one amazin' kid. kincaid is the only remaining member of one amazin' kid. adam baker recently joined hopesfall on drums. brian barker is now making huge amounts of money as a restaurant manager. daniel owen is now in a band named heartwood.
there were only a handful of shows, only nine released songs (one unreleased,) many visits by the cops to practice sessions and most definitely, no money made, but laurelei, to this day, retains a small but loyal cult-like following. the band touched their followers and each member in an everlasting way. those were some of the most creative and best days of our lives.
