Damn, this "Antares" is an amazing surprise! Well, French Metalheads know that Brennus Music and his manager are great to find the promising young combos of the country (Manigance, Seyminhol or Malediction… it was Brennus first also…) but it's always a pleasure to discover with the help of this label a new "kiler" combo. And one more time, we're in front of a little jewel, especially if you like Melodic Heavy Metal with progressive elements. Let's talk a bit now about Forgin' Fate…

Forgin' Fate doesn't really play pure Progressive music, we're not in front of a Vanden Plas and all those similar bands. Actually, the music of Forgin' Fate is more a kind of Melodic Heavy, mixed with a lot of different influences, from Power to Thrash and even Rock. But yes, we have also a lot of Progressive elements in the first album of the band, "Antares". Extremely technical with a lot of variations in all the different songs of the album, Forgin' Fate knew how to write an album which is all but not boring. A bit epic but with some really catchy riffs and melodies, "Antares" is this kind of album that will touch the Metalheads who like beautiful but not easy music. I could (should) talk about the songs but actually they're all good. "The Time That Goes By" is a pure progressive beautiful ballad, when the epic powerful "The Wise Way" is the proof that the music of Forgin' Fate can be complex but never lacks of rhythm. I'm sure that the ones who like Power, like Prog or Heavy will find something for them in this album. I'm sure of it…

Also, all the five guys (I say it again the five guys!) are great musicians. The mixing is good so it's easy to listen to all the different instruments and you can be sure that from the bass to the drums and the guitars, all is perfect and well played. Also Fabien Barriol, the singer, has an excellent voice that only suffers (a bit) of his French accent. But in general it's ok and it's good to see that we can find this kind of musicians here in France.

Complex but never boring and above all always catchy, "Antares" is, for now, the great surprise of the French Metal scene of the year 2006. I really hope that you will be able to find this band from the south of France on your roads or at least that you'll be able to find their first album. Tip top !
