Torrent description
This hit satirical UK comedy series which ran from 1987 to 1992 and it is a bitter political satire from the vicious pens of Laurence Marks and Maurice Gran, whose character the right-wing Conservative, even fascist, fictional MP Alan B'stard, played by Rik Mayall, featured in a new theatre play with the same actor in April 2006. Although it takes much from the same structure of its close predecessor, Yes Minister, which ran until 1984, it is a refreshingly modern version of political satire which may never have been equalled since, and almost certainly has not been equalled in terms of its broad appeal.
The New Statesman isn't a "serious" satire - the crazed violence and slapstick that Rik Mayall played so well in the '80's during satirical college student romp The Young Ones and later in the '90's Bottom is present here too, with regular beatings administered to office staff, oilfield takeovers, and even Nazi Gold featuring in plotlines.
Fun for all the family - if muggings, deception, regular blackmail, aggressive takeover bids, plotting annd conniving are what you love to get up to on the weekends...
