The theory of object music holds that there is no difference between a musical note and a sound within reality. These early experiments where created using a Teac 3340s reel to reel ¼ tape deck. They occurred before the advent of computer base technology when cassettes and vinyl reigned as the supreme format. Nudge Squidfish along with Chris the Anarchist, Tommy Jay, Ted Lust, Chris Brown, Stick Hoffman, Mike Rep and Jim Shepard were early followers of this approach. The goal was to produce a top 40 hit using only object music. This was achieved in 1982 with the release of the “45” on New Age Records entitled “Wedding Vows”. The following is a selection of object music experiments by nudge squidfish.
