Another nice round pack for you jazz lovers out there. As you can see, majority of these are in 160kbps cbr, and while that is not lossless, trust me, it is good enough to keep even the most sensitive of ears satisfied. In this collection, you'll find all the well known and loved jazz masters, like Satchmo, Louis Armstrong, The first lady of song, Ella Fitzgerald, The high priestess of soul, Nina Simone, etc etc but you also get a chance to discover other greats with less popular names, like Ben Webster, Woody Herman, Coleman Hawkins etc. Of course, some true greats were not honored by verve..and I am guessing the reason is that they "verve" did not have the rights to these names, such as Wayne Shorter, Jack Teagarden, Charles Mingus, Sun Ra, Dexter Gordon, John Scofield etc. Nonetheless, let's hope that they continue the collection sometime in the future, as it is a satisfying introduction to some of the real jazz powerhouses! If you love this music, go buy it for yourself, for a friend, for that nut job down the street that may not have a friend, but always has his ears plugged into his ipod or other music player. Do it for ther love of the music!
