Calgarian underground hip hop producer Wal Martian is becoming well known among those who have heard his music. He began his music training when he started learning to play the piano over 11 years ago. Accompanying his father on thrift store and garage sale missions, he quicky learned the art of digging vinyl. His record room dubbed "The hall of records" holds an impressive, ever growing collection of music, recorded on a variety of media. Including over 5,000 vinyl records, 600 cassette and 8 track tapes and aproximately 200 reel to reel tapes, many of which were recorded off FM radio shows in Detroit in the early sixties. FM radio was just beginning in those days and Stereo FM radio was the newest thing to the music world. This is the music that history has forgotten; little known jazz artists and music from the big band era of the thirties and forties. While scouring the mass cache of audio sources, Wal Martian takes any and all sounds which he finds appealing and arranges, alters and layers them to sculpt melancholy sound scapes, which massage the mind and tingle the eardrums.
