The house in the meadow (in Italy was initially entitled The small house in the prairie and one house in the prairie) and a television series produced between 1974 and 1983 in 203 episodes of 52 minutes each, taken from the series of novels by Laura Ingalls homonyms Wilder. The adventures start from the third book in the series, and focus particularly on the vicissitudes of life in Walnut Grove, a small town in Minnesota, seen through the eyes of Laura Ingalls same, when and by child until adulthood. To the nine seasons of regular series, plus three films made for television between 1983 and 1984.

To interpret the two small home Ingalls, Carrie and Grace, were chosen two pairs of twins to alternate in their roles. Michael Landon, who plays Charles Ingalls, and was also the creator of the first set. Among the interpreters of the ninth series, and this Shannen Doherty, known for his roles in Beverly Hills 90210 and witches. In reality the actress who plays Laura Ingalls, Melissa Gilbert, and the actor who plays Willie Oleson, Jonathan Gilbert, are brothers.

La casa nella prateria (in Italia e' stata inizialmente intitolata La piccola casa nella prateria e Quella casa nella prateria) e' una serie televisiva prodotta tra il 1974 e 1983 in 203 episodi di 52 minuti ciascuno, tratta dalla serie di romanzi omonimi di Laura Ingalls Wilder. Le avventure partono dal terzo libro della serie, e si concentrano in particolar modo sulle vicende della vita di Walnut Grove, piccolo villaggio del Minnesota, viste attraverso gli occhi della stessa Laura Ingalls, da quando e' bambina fino ad adulta. Alle nove stagioni della serie regolare, vanno aggiunti tre film per la tv realizzati fra il 1983 e il 1984.

A interpretare le due piccole di casa Ingalls, Carrie e Grace, sono state scelte due coppie di gemelle per alternarsi nei rispettivi ruoli. Michael Landon, che interpreta Charles Ingalls, e' stato anche l'ideatore della prima serie. Tra gli interpreti della nona serie c'e' Shannen Doherty, nota per i suoi ruoli in Beverly Hills 90210 e Streghe. Nella realtà l'attrice che interpreta Laura Ingalls, Melissa Gilbert, e l'attore che interpreta Willie Oleson, Jonathan Gilbert, sono fratelli.
