"If Frank wanted a knees-up, Frank's going to get a knees-up!" announces Pat Evans as preparations get under way for Mr Butcher's funeral. It's going to be a proper East End do but that doesn't mean a pearly king and queen will sing Roll Out the Barrel during the service. In fact, Walford does the lovable car dealer proud with Ricky, Diane and even the conniving Janine returning to pay their respects. Despite the odd spat between Pat and Peggy (it's impossible to get through an EastEnders funeral without someone being slapped or called a cow), this is a suitably sombre storyline because it's dedicated to the late Mike Reid, who played Frank. And the final line, heard as the coffin slips through the crematorium curtains, is one of those classic sentimental moments that will make you snort with laughter or sob with unashamed emotion.
