Another essential release for those who may have missed it.


Quite a lot of people in the underworld of techno got upset when Sebastien Leger released this production under his own name on his own record label, Mistakes Music. But a lot more people are very happy with this.

Basically, it's a House flavoured cover version of a Techno title, first released (as far as I am aware), in 1999 and re-issued in 2005. The orginal production is entitled "Knights Of The Jaguar" by an artist called "The Aztec Mystics" on a very well established and reputed label called "Underground Resistance" that seems to have been around since the dawn of the transistor.

If you have a look at the discogs entry for this Sebastien Leger production, you'll find quite the rant by another discogs member expressing his feelings. It's quite similar to my own rant in my previous post of Dave Darell's "Children" with regards to the release being a cover version of Robert Miles' work.

Anyway... I agree with the chap that it is in fact nothing more than a cover version. But, I strongly disagree with the chap that this production is no good.

The thing is.. we love Sebastien Leger. And.. we know that he is a very talented and important artist in his own right based on track record.

My bottom line... it's absolutely fine with me that Sebastien Leger pulled this out of the hat as a PR stunt for his own developing record label, Mistakes Music.


I should also point out that this production is just about falling within the category of "Tech House" as is listed on Beatport, and everywhere else. Personally, I feel that it's more of a Progressive House production.
